This episode, titled "Empowering Mothers: Triumph Over Trauma," is a heartfelt exploration of the challenges faced by mothers who have endured traumatic births and the subsequent path to healing.

Dr. Saloni Surah, an accomplished doctor and author, shares her raw and honest journey of becoming a mother later in life while balancing a demanding career. Her story begins with a tumultuous pregnancy and a significant cross-country move, which set the stage for a harrowing birth experience. Despite her hopes for a natural birth, complications led to an induction, a forceps delivery, and a severe tear, leaving her physically and emotionally drained. This candid account sheds light on the resilience required to navigate the unforeseen struggles of early motherhood.

One of the key topics discussed in this episode is the emotional weight of birth trauma and PTSD. Saloni opens up about the long-lasting effects these experiences have on mental health and the glaring inadequacies in post-birth mental health support within the healthcare system. She highlights the transformative potential of treatments like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and emphasizes the importance of honest communication with children about these traumatic experiences. By sharing heartfelt stories from women who faced unimaginable challenges, such as not being able to hold their newborns due to ICU stays, this episode aims to foster understanding and support for women affected by birth trauma.

As the episode progresses, we hear about Saloni's inspiring work as an author and her YouTube channel, "Bedtime Stories by Saloni," aimed at inspiring children through storytelling, is also highlighted. Her journey underscores the importance of community, perseverance, and seeking the support that mothers need and deserve.

Throughout the episode, Saloni's journey serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength required to overcome birth trauma and embrace recovery. Her story highlights the need for better mental health support within the healthcare system and the transformative potential of treatments like EMDR.
